Moly's first few days

Moly. No, we're not drug addicts (just got asked that the other day after 3 months of having her). Molycarbide has this steel grey color that looks just like her freckles. Sooo... Moly! Plus it doesn't sound like NO or LEAVE IT or DON'T EAT THE CATS.

For those of you that have never heard the GSOD, or the Greyhound Scream of Death, you can't understand the dichotomy of feeling between "oh god oh god she's dying" and "what is this drama queen screaming about?!". I never recorded it because it broke my heart every time I heard it and basically shut my brain down. This video is similar but image it from a 65lb full blown Greyhound in an apartment with EXCELLENT acoustics. Oh the reverberation...

Our landlord met her that afternoon. She dove for his crotch to hide her head which should have clued us into her fear but we saw it as sweetness. We took her inside and muzzled her before letting her wander the downstairs. The cats were not pleased. She watched them run around but didn't engage in the chase which made us both breathe a big sigh of relief. After setting up her crate and giving her a snack we crated her and left, per the instructions from the rescue.Oh. My. God. They warned us she might cry. They didn't tell us she would scream. And scream.

Long story short she screamed a lot. We crated her and covered the crate and she still screamed. She screamed when we were out of the apartment and she screamed when we were out of eye sight. I slept on the couch for 3 weeks so we wouldn't get evicted because she would scream ALL NIGHT LONG. I'll write another post about how we resolved it but it took 3-4 weeks until we resolved it.

Oh, did I mention the fleas? No? I'll post that in another too because that's a whole other can of worms. Suffice it to say that was an expensive and horrific two months. And with fleas comes tapeworms. Yay!

But the sweetness...
